Job Title: Associate Professor/Professor, Tenure Track and Director of the Educational Leadership Programs
Salary:
  • Salary is competitive with other non-profit higher education institutions and commensurate with qualifications, experience, internal equity considerations and subject to available funding sources.

Position Responsibilities:
  • The Kalmanovitz School of Education (KSOE) invites applications and nominations for a tenure track faculty position at either the Associate Professor/Professor level.  
  • The successful candidate will have the opportunity to shape the future of the Educational Leadership Programs, which include a Tier 1 Preliminary Administrative Credential, a Master’s degree and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
  • To be successful in the position, the candidate must be knowledgeable about and experienced in best practices in educational leadership and maintain an active scholarly agenda related to the field.
  • Serve as Program Director for the Tier I Preliminary Administrative Services. Credential Program, the Master’s Degree Program, and the Doctoral Program in Educational Leadership, which are offered on an annual calendar, normally with weekend classes.
  • Initiate ongoing planning efforts and pursue innovative program development opportunities.
  • Oversee ongoing curriculum development activities in light of the College mission and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing guidelines and expectations.
  • Guide faculty in the design, development and evaluation of program curricula.
  • Oversee the recruitment, hiring, orientation, and mentoring of full-time and part-time faculty.
  • Work with program staff to schedule teaching assignments, conduct student orientations, monitor student performance, and complete required documents for the California commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Collaborate with the KSOE Director of Recruitment and Marketing to develop marketing and recruitment strategy for Educational Leadership programs.
  • Maintain an active teaching schedule and ongoing research initiatives.
Deadline:
  • Receipt of applications begins immediately and continues until December 15, 2009 when the position closes.  
  • On campus interviews will be scheduled during January 2010. 
  • The position will be available at the beginning of the 2009-2010 academic year.

Qualifications:
  • Earned Doctorate in educational leadership/administration or a related area.
  • Excellent teaching skills; evidence of scholarly achievement and professional accomplishment commensurate with the rank of Associate Professor/Professor, along with service to the profession.
  • Successful experience as a K-12 administrator, preferably in California.
  • Knowledge of current program models in the field of educational leadership.
  • Experience with strategic planning and curriculum development.
  • Familiarity with California Standards for the Tier I Preliminary Administrative Services Credential, the California Accreditation system, and the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and culturally diverse campus environment.
  • Commitment to the mission of Saint Mary's College of California and its Catholic, Lasallian and Liberal Arts Traditions.
